Ostrich Boots

Ostrich Boots

Otrich boots are our primary premium exotic boot, prized for their unique appearance, durability, and comfort. These boots represent the pinnacle of Western boot craftsmanship and are often considered the best of the best Chisos boot.

The use of ostrich leather in bootmaking began in the mid-20th century. It became a premium because it was itially very rare and extremely expensive due to limited ostrich farming. It gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s and evolved to become a regular premium option in high-end Western wear

There's nothing quite like an Ostrich Boot

Ostrich boots are characterized by:

  • Distinctive quill pattern on the vamp (front part of the boot)
  • Smooth leather on the shaft, often featuring decorative stitching
  • Various toe shapes (rounded, square, or pointed)
  • Traditional cowboy boot height or shorter roper style
  • Pull straps or loops at the top of the shaft

You'll notice that ostrich leather is unique in several ways:

  • Distinctive raised bumps (quills) where feathers were attached
  • Extremely durable yet supple leather
  • Natural oils that make it somewhat water-resistant
  • Available in full-quill (with bumps) or smooth ostrich leather

While ostrich boots maintain a luxury status, they are also practical reasons to choose an Ostrich boot.

  • Extremely durable, often outlasting traditional cowhide boots
  • Naturally flexible, requiring minimal break-in time
  • Breathable leather that helps keep feet cool
  • Resistant to stretching, helping boots maintain their shape over time
