Form, Meet Function
Calf ropers of the early 20th century weren't too satisfied with the tall heels of cowboy-style boots. They wanted something they could run in. And so the roper was born.
With a shorter heel, shorter shaft, and subdued silhouette, the roper is the cowboy boot's quieter cousin. Still built Chisos tough, the flatter footing of the roper is arguably a harder worker.
Personally, we rotate between 'em both.
Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.
The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture. When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.
To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.
I am not a cowboy, but if I was I would sleep in these boots. Like I have already. Hahaha! Buy up a size, and say thank you. For the best boots in the world.
I was a little nervous about dropping almost $600 on my first pair of cowboy boots but as soon as they arrived I immediately got it. The quality of materials and craftsmanship is just outstanding! You can smell the leather through the box, the weight, feel and finish are all top notch and yes, they are damn comfy! I doubt I’ll ever need to buy another pair but if I do it will be Chisos!
From the first wear, these things are fantastic. The quality is top notch!
The No. 6 is a well made boot. The insoles were very comfortable from day one. The boots are made from a good thick leather, so like most boots there is a short break-in period and they get more comfortable the more you wear them. After having mine for about a month, decided to stop by their store and buy a second pair in a different color.
The quality and craftsmanship is obvious from the moment you open the box and try them on. You can dress them up or take them on a casual stroll around town with your girl. Get them! Don’t hesitate.
These are legitimately the most comfortable boots I've bought. They look great and feel great. Well done Chisos team.
Boots are amazing and super comfortable, and I feel will get more comfortable after they break in properly. Only (personal) issue with them is maybe the shaft/opening is a little too wide (again, personal taste). Otherwise, amazing boots!
Got them broken in and love them. Great quality.
This is my first pair of cowboy boots ever. As a collector of Jordans this was a weird purchase for me, but after living in Texas for 4 years now and getting older I started noticing I like the way boots look with jeans so I decided to give it a try.
After a lot of research I landed on Chisos boots strictly for the rave reviews on comfort. I can’t state how comfortable they are compared to others because it’s my first pair, but I’ve been able to wear them for hours. The first time straight out of the box. I appreciate the small business aspect of Chisos and the fact that they seem to appreciate my business when I am in the market for a second pair, which knowing me in the way, I collect shoes will probably be sooner than later. I would definitely try another pair of Chisos.
Really cool boots. My number 6 boots fit better than any of my other boots. Solid construction. Good fit. Look good. What else can you ask for?
