An Undisputed Classic
Black full-quill ostrich—paired with our heritage magic black cowhide—is the pinnacle of classic cowboy boots. Tanned to perfection, you will only fully appreciate how stunning the No. 1 is when you unbox it for yourself.
Selectively-bred South African AAA grade ostrich feels plush without sacrificing durability. Natural variances in leather tone and texture give each pair a unique presence.
Expect your Chisos ostrich boots to feel slightly firm upon arrival. This is by design; the leather breaks in perfectly without becoming floppy (as lower grades are known to do).
The only downside is the time you’ll spend thanking people for their compliments.
Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.
The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture. When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.
To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.
It was 2023 I turned my life around, and the world finally said you have paid your dues, luck was on my side, as it always was and my day dreams materialized to tangible milestones. Im a believer that if you dress good you feel good, and since I was a child I knew that I can dress all the way up but what always mattered is what I had on my feet, if it was performance or lifestyle or simply a self mental image and how I would navigate this world and would be perceived by those who cross paths with me.
It was summer of 2023 the world had finally came my way, a winning mindset a can do attitude, a contagious positive attitude where I felt those who appreciated me wanted to rub elbows with me and those who shun me lit potions hoping to bad juju me.
As I haphazardly navigated the web and suddenly at a coincidence influenced by a positive energy, what outfit would make me feel free, no verbally present me, show some rebellion mixed with Freedom and discipline and how I can embody this in my outfit?
This sparked an idea! Casual jeans and a basic tee, and boots that said yes I have substance, and authenticity! Something different something genuine something real, something that tells as a story! I scoured the internet then I landed on Chisos’s website and it was that moment that I knew something was different with these boots , they embodied and spoke to my imagination!
Truth be td at the beginning I had to understand the “Why” and how would I accept the bill, then I pondered ruminated accepted but hesitated, years of hard work and misfortune taught me to appreciate every cent so this was a big financial decision!
I kept window shopping from the comfort of my laptop between an inebriated let me pull the trigger, interrupted by a sober touch of reality, I laid low and kept observing with eagerness awaiting the moment of truth.
Two years and maybe a few months passed by then I had something akin to an epiphany It was time and as a day dreaming man I had to see in person those pair of boots where it had a romantic story a sun and a moon embroidered on opposite ends like unrequited love and unmet dreams. I hopped in my truck and headed westward from Texas to Texas that’s Houston to Austin! Excited like a child, nerves like a prize fighter, and optimism of a gambler, to go and finally meet my boots and celebrate afterwards with some bbq!
We arrived to Chisos store a house in Austin, we pulled into the parking space, excited by the sign, and the moment of truth!
I steadily walked, heading towards the front door documenting my experience with photos!
In the store we were welcomed as if we are family gathering for the holidays, as if they knew and kept track of the cookies that kept popping in my every website picture I felt expected and felt home, And then me and my boots finally met, I tried almost all boots and without boredom tedium or delay, the team at Chisos enthusiastically grabbed different models and sizes.
The calling was true it was the Chisos #1 I first wanted to conservatively go just leather but the exotic ostrich spoke to me, made with love and no verbally told a story they were the ones for me!
Without hesitation I met my boots showed it that I was ready to make those mental vision true and I finally on august 16th 2025 bought my Chisos boots
Thank you Chisos for the support after the purchase thank you for all the merchandise you gifted me, thank you for your patience your non compromising attitude and how you truly took care of me!
I wanted a pair of high quality, good-looking boots to wear on more special occasions. For that purpose, these boots do that and more. For one, they're way overbuilt for what I'm using them for, but with that said, I don't think I'll ever need to replace them (at least the boot itself). The build is fantastic. Seriously. Second to none. The price is high, yes, but it's an investment. You'll have these boots (and be happy about it) longer than the few pairs you run though over time. I love the stitching on the shaft of the boot, too. I know no one really sees it under whatever you're covering them with, but it's so unique and pays wonderful homage to the Chisos Mountains. The leather quality is absolutely great. The ostrich leather is smooth and supple. It's also worth noting that I don't think I've ever seen or felt an ostrich leather hide as thick as the ones on my Chisos. Similarly, the shaft leather is full, beautifully textured, and soft. The red interior is a nice touch. It makes them feel even more premium . It will bleed onto your socks when you wear them which is a nuisance for some, but badge of honor for others. Fit and feel when wearing them is fantastic. They fit like a glove and the insert makes a huge difference in terms of comfort, especially when you're wearing them for longer periods of time. You may have seen other boot brands with inserts, but I haven't found one that fits or feels the way my Chisos do. The boot was designed around the insert, not just shoved in as an afterthought. On this topic, some have complaints about the boot being too tight around the instep. I personally don't have this issue, and found the boots to be true to my size and the same as in normal shoes. I haven't had to call on customer support, but I've heard great things about the folks at Chisos and they'll get you straightened out if you have any issues. If you're in the market for the best pair of boots money can buy or on the fence for what ones to get, I'd recommend Chisos. They're a fantastic pair of boots to invest in, and you'll be thanking yourself you made the right choice.
This was my second pair of Chisos Boots so I already knew what I was in for. Incredible comfort right out of the box that only gets better over time. I highly recommend Chisos to anyone looking for a hop quality cowboy boot. Don’t be fooled by the higher prices of some of the competitors out there these are as good as it gets!!
They Felt broke in right out of the box. I wear them all day at work with zero complaints. Definitely would buy again.
Extremely well made boots. Added the #1 Ostrich to the brown #2s. After a couple weeks of wear they break in perfect. Gonna be hard to go back to anything lesser made.
Bought No 1 in ostrich right before Christmas on a trip to Austin. Normally wear 10 EE, went with 10.5 D. Wore them for the first time in mid-February. They were a bit snug when I put them on, and perfect by the end of the night. Got lots of compliments- they look so good!
I purchased the No.1 Black Ostrich boots. They are of excellent quality and workmanship. The thickness of materials is very evident, compared to my other pair of ostriches from another well known brand. Unfortunately, I ordered a size to small, so I had to exchange them. Thanks to the Chisos team, I had my correct size in a very short period of time.
Working Retail for over 36 years, I know what the customer wants, and expects...especially when your paying this kind of money for a product.
Thanks to Team Chisos for the great customer experience.
P.S. I already ordered my #2 in Brown. Can't wait to get them too.
The look of this boot is great. The black ostrich is high quality, the shaft is beautiful, and you can tell visually that the boot is crafted with care.
The issue really comes with the sizing of the boot. If you look online or really on the Chisos' site it tells you to wear one size down. Maybe for most people with a more average foot this is true, knowing that I have a slightly wider foot, I went with my true to size 12s. I have all of my running shoes in 12 and a pair of Tacovas Ostrich in 12D. I thought I would be golden.
The first day I wore it more or less on carpet, the fit I could tell was correct, but after about 3 to 4 hours my feet were in some intense pain. When I woke up the next day they were sore. I took the inserts out and the fit was near perfect, but of course the marketing convinced me I should give it one more shot... In doing so I scuffed up the bottom so I have to live the purchase.... Long story short I reach out to support and they told me to try a different insert and not to go a size up. I opted for getting nicer inserts for my running shoes and the using the "old inserts" for my boots. I did this about a weeks ago. I tried to break in the boots with the chisos inserts for about 2 weeks... I used a baseball, I stuffed a shirt down in the boot and left it for about 2 days (I did this multiple times), I used Bickmore's bootspray... Nothing worked except changing the insert.
I wish the had a thinner version of this insert... Again love the look of the boot, but I'm not 100% convinced that the boot was crafted around the insert.
Great quality materials and look amazing, only down side the right boot fits too tight and left feels good, unfortunately I'm still breaking them in 2 weeks after I got them, hopefully I will be able to wear them ASAP,and after reading comments on the Chisos community Facebook page, seems like I'm not the only one this has happened too,I'm sure they will fit like a glove when I break then in,good day
I ordered the Black Ostrich full quill in an 11D. When I received them and tried the on they were too tight. My first thought was I hope this is not going to be a hassle to exchange and it wasn’t. It was very easy, Chisos has an automated return process, Print label, list size you would like to exchange for, mine 11.5 D, drop off at UPS, new boots, perfect fit show up in a few days. Awesome customer service. Really nice boots and a real step up from previous pairs of Ostrich I own. I highly recommend!!
