Cowhide
11" Shaft
1⅝" Heel

The No. 1 is crafted from Chisos heritage cowhide, available in either our speckled magic black, gorgeous brushed brown, or roughout. The artwork shows the sun and stars over the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park and our signature red heel stripe completes the piece.

Chisos heritage cowhides boast superior durability to juvenile leathers, and our proprietary process renders them uniquely soft. Natural variation occurs by design. Handcrafted in Mexico.

Chisos provides free shipping on exchanges within the contiguous United States within 90 days of purchase. Product costs are refundable within 30 days of purchase.

For all returns, items must be in like-new condition without scratches nor scuffs. We recommend trying on your boots on carpet to ensure proper fit.

Chisos boots fit true to size according to US shoe standards. Simply order the size that you wear most often.

Generally boots will match the same size you wear in other leather footwear, or a half size smaller than your athletic shoes. If you normally waiver between two sizes, select the smaller size.

The conversion between men's and ladies' is approximately 1.5-2 size increments. For example, a Men's 7 D is a Ladies' 8.5 or 9.

The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture.

When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.

The boot that Started It All

Named like oil wells—in the order of development—all Chisos boots owe a debt of gratitude to the infamous Chisos No. 1.

Elegant embroidery showcases the sun rising over the Chisos Mountains, a tip of the hat to our namesake in Far West Texas. And that medium round toe pairs well with pressed jeans or a tux.

The classic horseman's boot, let the Chisos No. 1 anchor your collection.

Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.

To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.

Magic Black, Magical Boots

I recently received my third pair of Chisos boots, #1 in magic black. Just like my #2's and #6's, the #1's were comfortable right out of the box for an entire ten hour workday. The quality and craftsmanship will keep me coming back. I can't recommend Chisos highly enough!

Excellent

I love my Chisos boots. I've had them for about two months now. They are just all around great. There's nothing to criticize about them. They are superior to my other boots in every way. I got the roughout #1 model. I like the style, embroidery and finish. They really stand out and look good. They are very comfortable.
I ended up get a half size larger than I normally wear in Nike athletic shoes. A full size larger than I wear in my tighter fitting Italian loafers. That seems to contradict the advice on fit from Chisos. They recommend to get a half size smaller than your athletic shoes. I tried that size at first but it wasn't going to work. Chisos was easy to work with on getting a different size. They even gave me the fast expedited shipping that I had paid for, on my replacement pair too. I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly they showed up. These boots are a great value and top quality, so I think it's totally worth possibly having to try a different size. Just plan on that possibly happening and roll with it.

I’ve been wearing the Brushed Brown No. 1 for over three weeks, and it is by far my most comfortable and favorite pair of boots. Thank you, Chisos.

First Chisos Boot for me

From the moment I opened the box and removed the boots, I knew these were something special. The smell, the way they feel in your hands and most importantly how they feel on my feet.... Not sure perfection is the right word, but dang close! I'm already shopping for my next pair.

Update to my December review

I had my boots stretched by shoe repair shop, and they are still to tied in the instep. I have used baseballs to stretch the boots but this did not help either. What help was getting different insoles. Clearly the insoles that Chisos touts as unique and great for the users, do not work with high insteps. They should should use various thickness of their insoles to accommodate different feet shapes. Paying over $450 for boots and then search for new insoles to make the boots fit is not right.
