The boot that Started It All
Named like oil wells—in the order of development—all Chisos boots owe a debt of gratitude to the infamous Chisos No. 1.
Elegant embroidery showcases the sun rising over the Chisos Mountains, a tip of the hat to our namesake in Far West Texas. And that medium round toe pairs well with pressed jeans or a tux.
The classic horseman's boot, let the Chisos No. 1 anchor your collection.
Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.
The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture. When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.
To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.
I’ve worn a zillion different boots in my life. I ordered these based on Chisos’ sizing suggestion and wore them on carpet for a week before giving up and returning them for a half size larger. These broke in much quicker, but were still a bear compared to mass produced boots. I wear them as much as I can and put them to bed with baseballs in them. Now…great. I really love them and can’t wait to get a pair in black. I plan on ordering No1’s again since I love the toe shape so much. The fit and finish are second to none. You can tell they are handcrafted with a lot of care. Be patient with the fit and break in and you will be rewarded with an amazing pair of boots.
After being skeptical about wearing boots around regularly, I became pleasantly surprised. I went to Chisos to try some boots with my parents, they were incredibly comfortable and I found them to improve my posture. I felt immediately satisfied and even empowered by the whole experience. I ended up leaving with new boots and a belt to match it. I wore them every day for the following week and they only became more comfortable.
Thank you Chisos!
There are no downsides or cons to this boot! Beautiful style, rich leather and fabulous fit! I purchased a Magic Black and a Rough Out - both Style 1. I’m very satisfied with with my purchase and strongly recommend Chisos to anyone looking for a quality western boot!
Everything advertised about these boots is true. They are extremely comfortable. The decorative stitching is beautifully done; the inverted seam in the shaft lining is a classy touch. Sublime quality indeed, very impressive. IMHO, these boots are simply great.
I absolutely LOVE my Chisos Number 1 in rough out. They are the most comfortable western boots I've ever owned. I will be wearing them a lot for playing live music and it's critical that they be comfortable. Style and function are the order of the day. I'm wearing them a lot hoping to develop a bit of patina and facilitate complete break in, but man, they just plain look and feel good!
I LOVE the way the roughout #1s look. Break-in period was actually quite short - sizing is not unlike most other brands (maybe go .5 size larger if you are used to Ariats).
The minute I slip the boot on in makes that satisfying pop while still easy enough to take off without a boot jack.
The arch support is one of the best out there - night and day better than Tecocas + I love that I’ll be able to replace the insole when it inevitably wears out with age as expected.
The vamp is just a tiny bit tight, but it is breaking in nicely, it should be perfect within the next few weeks of wear.
I’m being a bit picky here, but my only gripe is the lack of cushion in the sole/outsole that keeps it from being my every occasion boot. If I had to walk or stand on a hard surface all day, it would be nice to have a bit thicker or cushioned outsole. With just the leather outsole it gets a bit uncomfortable on hard surfaces and prevents me from wearing it from November to April, but I know what I signed up for. I usually go to my Lucchese Rusty or Ariat Quantum’s for that purpose and save my Chisos for nicer occasions in the summer.
Great boot overall.
Chisos has made me a cowboy boot convert! These are so comfortable. So good looking. And so high in quality. I'm at the point where I look forward to getting dressed in the morning because it means I can wear my boots again!
Just tried them on for the first time and it’s everything that everyone’s been raving about. I love them. I’m a size 9.5 and I ordered that size and they fit perfectly. I definitely will order fro Chisos again
I’m loving my new Chisos cowboy boots No.1. They came all the way to my home in Perth Australia beautifully and securely packaged.
Aussies in cities don’t often rock cowboy boots but I just love them and wear them whenever I can. Even just around the home - as they are so very comfortable. The fit is a bit on the generous size especially since I have a narrow foot, and a thick sock helps. I recommend Chisos as they are extremely high quality and I would buy again. Thank you 🤠
I have three pair of Chisos. Two pair of number one and one pair of number two. Seems that I am a bit partial to the number ones but they all represent boot making at the highest level. At present, I’m trying to decide which style to buy next in rough out.
