A Little Rock 'n Roll
Some call it dressy, some say it's easygoing. But nobody can deny that the snip toe of the Chisos No. 5 makes an impression.
Combined with the steer head embroidery, the No. 5 goes where it wants. Get it dirty and don't worry about maintenance—the patina adds to the allure.
Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.
The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture. When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.
To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.

After intensive research for my next western boot, I landed on Chisos. And boy, did it not disappoint! Aside from all the qualities in the craftmanship, and the various video reviews, there is this unique feeling in owning a pair of Chisos.
For those that value curated items, this is a must have. Not only is the style and design timeless, but the comfort is exceptional. There was no holding back in the creation and development of these boots. Time and time, I find myself grabbing the No.5 rough outs as my go-to footwear - whether it be work or play. I know that this will be a heritage boot and it's no surprise that Chisos owners turn into product evangelists.
For those that are on the fence about investing in these boots, I strongly suggest watching all the available video reviews to get a quantitative view. One can also read about qualitative insights online and in social media. Then pick your pair and enjoy! By the way, customer service is also exceptional!
I'm eagerly anticipating new inventory so I can invest in the other styles. This will be the only brand of western boots I'll be buying from now on.
The boots are super comfortable, extremely well made, and the customer service was A+.
After wearing them, a couple of thoughts: I wish Chisos made their boots with narrower and taller shafts. I know one size doesn’t fit all, but for me, the wide, short shafts create a real problem with my jeans (and I’ve tried all kinds) falling into the top of the boot and printing badly. Not a good look. Otherwise, I wouldn’t change a thing.
I really wanted a snip toe just didn’t have my size. Ended up swapping out for a square toe. First pair getting them broke I’m happy with them. Customer service is excellent other companies need to follow these folks script! Will buy from them again for sure.
This is my fourth pair of Chisos! Obviously, I love Chisos boots! I'm not a boots every day kind of guy. I still wear tennis shoes and loafers and such when they're the mood, but I love having different styles and colors of Chisos to wear to parties, to theatre, to events, to just hang out by a fire pit. You name it. It's the comfort! It's the look! I've gotten so many compliments on these new #5s! I love them!
A few weeks ago, I put on one of my old, pre-Chisos pairs of boots. It had once been my favorite pair. They're cordovan colored and I really wanted to wear that color that night. I did, but after having worn nothing but Chisos for a couple of years, they felt so flimsy. My feet actually wobbled a few times walking that night. Chisos are so solid, so substantial--every step lands confidently and comfortably. I took the old pair to Goodwill.
I love my Chisos!
Just got my No.5’s and get complimented on a regular basis. I bought them because I couldn’t get a different premium brand in the correct size so I gave these a try: WHAT A SURPRISE! Comfortable from the start and wore them to a concert that night. I expected a blister after wearing them for about 5 hours but nothing the next day. I will say the toes take a little to get used to but they are freakin sweet!
I have to say I was unsure how I'd like the snip toe but they have continued to grow on me and have became by far my favorite boot I've ever owned. I receive compliments quite on them also. Little snug the first few days but they have broken in beautifully. I have not worn any other footwear out since. Looking forward to another pair of Chisos in the future.
Let me say I wear boots not because they’ve become ‘hip” lately but because I’ve always worn boots. I own a horse farm but I’m also a businessman and often in suits.
While I own high dollar name boots (Lucchese etc) I ordered the Chisos rough out with sniptoe (pretty much all I wear). I expected a 500 dollar boot, decent quality and not much more. Well let me say I’m shocked!! The comfort is over the top! The quality so far is that of a boot in the 700-1k range at least. I tell you if Chisos offer other sniptoes I’d give them a shot. Time will tell if these boots are as good as I think, but after 2-3 weeks (wearing them 70% of the time) these are shockingly great!!!!!
I am really enjoying the excellent fit & looks of my black #5 Chisos! Couldn't ask for a better boot
First off, a quality natural roughout seems to be a rare find. I never thought I would ever own a pair of snip toes due to past foot injuries and glass toes from past breaks but I had to have these beaut’s. As a lifetime work-boot and boot wearer I was skeptical when they came in. I opened the box and was overcome by the smell of that sweet supple leather. “No bad boot can smell this heavenly” I thought, but alas I was still skeptical. My hands trembled and my s*** kickers clenched in anticipation. My eyes nearly rolled back as I felt the inner lining leather(that spans the whole inside btw Youtube the cheif cutting them in half). But they looked narrow, uncomfortable? “Do it, rip off the bandaid” I told myself. It must be worth the money they look so good. I full sent it...
As soon as I slipped my foot in, epic classical music blared in my ears, my pupils expanded black with ecstasy and I saw flashing images of wild horses galloping, snow capped mountains, an eagle soaring, blooming flowers, a mother holding her newborn, an old man being helped across a street by a youth, all the beauties of life in half a second. Bliss.. They are that comfortable.
In all seriousness I have never had a piece of footwear as soon as I take off I want to feel that comfort again and slip them back on. Every foot is made different but personally I had no break in period whatsoever. Not to mention they are damn eye catching boots. After many miles on the motorcycle and walking they are still comfortable after a long day. Albeit dirty and abused(you know, character). Get yourself some foot therapy, Chisos is worth every penny twice over. Second pair in Magic Black on the way.
I visited Chisos expecting to leave with anything but a snip toe roughout, but the combination of everyday ruggedness, great looks and comfort (that feels like a warm hug to your soles…get it?😏) won over my heart and the 52 bones in my feet and ankles. If you can get to Chisos and try everything on, you’ll be glad for the experience to get to know the character of the boots as well as the Chisos team.
