Native Texan Creates Cowboy Boots Inspired by Big Bend
Austin-Based Chisos' Mission: Do Right, Love Texas
AUSTIN, TX, 2019 — The Chisos Boot Company, a Texan-owned small business, is proud to announce the release of its inaugural line of intricately designed, responsibly sourced cowboy boots.
Named after the Chisos Mountains in Big Bend National Park, the values of generosity and stewardship are core to the Chisos mission. The artwork of the handcrafted first-edition collection alludes to the West Texas mountains, and a portion of every sale goes to support Texas land conservation. Chisos Founder Will Roman sees boots as a natural vehicle for advocacy.
“Boots are core to the legend of Texas and the identity of Texans. They enable us to show our pride in this great state, and they are a symbol of the defiant and fiercely loyal people who call this place home. When you pull on a pair of boots, there’s just an overwhelming Texas pride you can’t quite explain,” says Roman. “What a great tool to bring people together to take care of the special places in Texas.”
Dissatisfied with the existing options of uncomfortable and outdated boots, Roman decided to make his own. A University of Texas alumnus and veteran business owner, Roman ripped open all types of boots and spent months experimenting with improvements to both structure and design. Chisos boots forgo traditional western patterns for more Texan, understated motifs. A proprietary post-tanning process creates the unique softness and beautiful depth of the Chisos heritage cowhide.
“I’m very proud of the entire Chisos line, but it’s not just about aesthetics,” continues Roman. “Chisos boots are ethically made and sweatshop-free, utilize a lead-free tanning process, and consist of absolutely no calfskin. We give a portion of all revenue to Texas nonprofits. Our motto is ‘Do Right, Love Texas.’ When you see someone wearing Chisos boots, you know what they stand for.”
Built for all-day comfort, Chisos boots are ready-to-wear off the shelf and require no break-in period.
