An Undisputed Classic
Black full-quill ostrich—paired with our heritage magic black cowhide—is the pinnacle of classic cowboy boots. Tanned to perfection, you will only fully appreciate how stunning the No. 1 is when you unbox it for yourself.
Selectively-bred South African AAA grade ostrich feels plush without sacrificing durability. Natural variances in leather tone and texture give each pair a unique presence.
Expect your Chisos ostrich boots to feel slightly firm upon arrival. This is by design; the leather breaks in perfectly without becoming floppy (as lower grades are known to do).
The only downside is the time you’ll spend thanking people for their compliments.
Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.
The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture. When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.
To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.

I have been waiting quite some time to write this review. I had never even heard of Chisos before and knew when I walked my beautiful wife down the aisle that I wanted to wear a quality gentlemen's boot. Of course I had my heart set on Lucchese boots, but then Rose Anvil for the win. I happened to watch him cut in half the Chisos boots and subsequently saw owner Will cut his own boots in half (I believe it was actually will who cut first). Once I saw the quality that these were constructed with versus Lucchese (still a great boot, not knocking them) I knew I was going to walk my lady down the aisle in these. Plus as a fellow Texan and small business advocate it just made sense.
I ordered them in April but could not wear them one bit until our wedding day, that was our deal together (my wife) so we could write on the outsoles of each other's boots. While at the end of the wedding day my feet had some hot spots but they were overall extremely comfortable right out of the box. I have since tailored my sock department and used only thin smooth dress socks when I wear them, if I do that all day comfort is a given.
The detail that caught my eye the most was the maroon lining (I am an Aggie) but also the fact that the whole boot is lined and not just what you can see in the shaft. I liked it so much that I got the lining of my custom wedding jacket tailored in an identical color silk. I did all I could to make these boots a piece of my own personal history and with the quality they will never give up. I already have a couple other Chisos on my wish list in the future. I will not hesitate to pull the trigger.
Sizing: follow their instructions. I wear a size 12d in running shoes, size 12.5-13 in steel toe work boots and hiking boots and got a 11.5 as instructed. I do not have overly wide or skinny feet, just average I'd say.
If you are questioning based on price, sure they are expensive, but I have been into the shop twice before buying them and everyone I have talked with truly seems passionate about the company. Some people harp that cause they are made in Mexico they should be cheaper, but most boots I have ever bought are from Mexico and I have never had quality issues. That is not to say there are good quality USA boots and or bad made in Mexico boots. Watch the Rose Anvil videos and you'll see why they are good.
I wear them every chance I get, flying to and from work, grocery, wedding, nice dinners, etc...they really dress up and down quite well, especially if you pair it with the matching belt. PS don’t be a dork if you can swing it, make sure your dress pants are tailored for a boot shaft…or you’re wearing a boot cut jean.
Overall I am truly happy with my purchase. Have been recommending them to every person that asks or comments on them.

Great fit after going up a half size. Thank you kris for the great service. Keep up the great work! Best boots I’ve ever worn.
I fell in love from the first time my foot slid in. I went to the store and the experience was top notch. The boots are feeling more comfortable as I wear them more
I normally wear more formal boots such as these only in the office or on social occasions but last week I had an opportunity pop up to look at a few acres of rural cattle pasture as I was coming home and went out to see it in these boots. They kept my feet dry walking through the muddy SW Louisiana cow pasture and cleanup up perfectly with just spraying them off with the hose and then wiping them down with some leather cleaner.
The ostrich No. 1 boots are awesome. They are so well made and beautiful. Chisos run true to size which makes online ordering easier. They are the most comfortable boots, right out of the box, I ever owned.
The attention to detail is fantastic! The boots not only look great, the also are super comfortable! We were looking for boots that didn’t take any shortcuts and finally found a company we can stand behind. Chisos, please don’t grow so big that you forget to take the time and effort to create a great product.
Best boot I’ve ever owned. Exceeded my expectation.
My 3rd pair of Chisos boots and easily the most perfect. I appreciated the initial stiffer fit of the ostrich vs the slipper-like #1 Magic Black, allowing the substantial ostrich hide to form fit to my feet after 3-4 days. Awesome. Compared to my $1500 Lucchese Ostrich, the trade off with Chisos ostrich tanned leather is much thicker and satisfying while being slightly less refined than the Lucchese expertly tanned but very thin leather. The build quality of #1 Ostrich is just superb, and the feel of wearing these boots is just perfection, so well balanced with less “dive” to the toe compared to the Magic Black #1. Fabulous boots! Note in the photo that my Ostrich heel is 1/8th inch taller than my MB #1s, yet feels more perfect and balanced. Nice spur ridge on the Ostrich as well. I wear a rotation of boots but if I had to choose only one pair of boots to wear to hell to meet Lucifer, the #1 in Ostrich would easily be it. Brilliant execution on these boots and damn comfortable. So well done, Chisos! And worth every penny paid.
Purchased the Chisos black No.1 Ostrich boots, size 11 on a Friday and spent the entire next day in them at tailgates and the game. I was pleasantly surprised at the comfort even after a long day on my feet. No significant break-in required to know these were the best boots I've ever had. My strongest recommendation and great customer service to boot ;)
My favorite boot. Durable, comfortable, and sharp looking. You can go to the Bar, to the Ranch, and to a Boardroom, and it works, really well!
