Generally boots will match the same size you wear in other leather footwear. If you normally waiver between two sizes, select the larger size.

The conversion between men's and ladies' is approximately 1.5-2 size increments. For example, a Men's 7 D is a Ladies' 8.5 or 9.

The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture.

When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.

Start with your usual size

Your usual size in leather footwear is a starting point. If you regularly wear two sizes, start with the larger one.

Choose your width

D is the standard/regular width that most men wear. EE is considered wide or extra wide, depending on the brand.

High arch or high instep?

You may need an extra half size.

Wide foot, but no EE in your style?

Many customers find going up a half size works almost as well as an EE for wide feet.

Different-sized feet or between styles?

Check both feet. Tell us your usual leather-shoe size, the Chisos style you’re considering, and which foot needs more room. We’ll help you work through the options.

Shopping across men’s and ladies’ styles?

The size difference is roughly 1.5 sizes. A men’s 7 is about a women’s 8.5. Width and volume also differ, so it's not an exact conversion.

How the right fit should feel

  • Snug across the instepThe top and widest part of your foot should feel held, without painful pressure or pinching.
  • Room for your toesYour toes should move comfortably. Cramped toes are a reason to reassess the size or width.
  • A little heel slipUp to about ½ inch of heel lift can be normal at first. If your foot slides forward and back or the slip feels excessive, you may need to size down or add an extra insole.

Leather softens and stretches with wear, so a firm fit is generally recommended. However, do not count on the break-in to fix pain or cramped toes.

The Chisos No. 2—now available in full-quill ostrich. Tanned to perfectly compliment the brushed-brown Chisos heritage cowhide leather you know and love, you will only fully appreciate how stunning it is when you unbox it for yourself.

Selectively-bred South African AAA grade ostrich feels plush without sacrificing durability. Natural variances in leather tone and texture give each pair a unique presence.

Expect your Chisos ostrich boots to feel a little stiff upon arrival. This is by design; the leather breaks in perfectly without becoming floppy (as lower grades are known to do).

The only downside is the time you’ll spend thanking people for their compliments.

Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.

To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.
