Ostrich
11" Shaft
1⅝" Heel

The No. 1 in black full-quill ostrich personifies quiet confidence, an undisputed classic among the exotics. The cowhide shafts are embroidered with the skies over the Chisos Mountains in West Texas. And our signature heel stripe completes the discerning piece.

Chisos provides free shipping on exchanges within the contiguous United States within 90 days of purchase. Product costs are refundable within 30 days of purchase.

For all returns, items must be in like-new condition without scratches nor scuffs. We recommend trying on your boots on carpet to ensure proper fit.

Chisos boots fit true to size according to US shoe standards. Simply order the size that you wear most often.

Generally boots will match the same size you wear in other leather footwear, or a half size smaller than your athletic shoes. If you normally waiver between two sizes, select the smaller size.

The conversion between men's and ladies' is approximately 1.5-2 size increments. For example, a Men's 7 D is a Ladies' 8.5 or 9.

The leather soles of your boots are designed to wear out and be replaced, much like the brakes on your pickup truck. Your mileage will vary depending on conditions of use, your weight, and your walking style. Avoid repeated exposure to water and excess moisture.

When needed, a cobbler can perform a full resole and heel replacement.

Great looking boot, bad for wider feet.

The look of this boot is great. The black ostrich is high quality, the shaft is beautiful, and you can tell visually that the boot is crafted with care.

The issue really comes with the sizing of the boot. If you look online or really on the Chisos' site it tells you to wear one size down. Maybe for most people with a more average foot this is true, knowing that I have a slightly wider foot, I went with my true to size 12s. I have all of my running shoes in 12 and a pair of Tacovas Ostrich in 12D. I thought I would be golden.

The first day I wore it more or less on carpet, the fit I could tell was correct, but after about 3 to 4 hours my feet were in some intense pain. When I woke up the next day they were sore. I took the inserts out and the fit was near perfect, but of course the marketing convinced me I should give it one more shot... In doing so I scuffed up the bottom so I have to live the purchase.... Long story short I reach out to support and they told me to try a different insert and not to go a size up. I opted for getting nicer inserts for my running shoes and the using the "old inserts" for my boots. I did this about a weeks ago. I tried to break in the boots with the chisos inserts for about 2 weeks... I used a baseball, I stuffed a shirt down in the boot and left it for about 2 days (I did this multiple times), I used Bickmore's bootspray... Nothing worked except changing the insert.

I wish the had a thinner version of this insert... Again love the look of the boot, but I'm not 100% convinced that the boot was crafted around the insert.

First pair of Chisos

Great quality materials and look amazing, only down side the right boot fits too tight and left feels good, unfortunately I'm still breaking them in 2 weeks after I got them, hopefully I will be able to wear them ASAP,and after reading comments on the Chisos community Facebook page, seems like I'm not the only one this has happened too,I'm sure they will fit like a glove when I break then in,good day

Nice Boots, very well made.

I ordered the Black Ostrich full quill in an 11D. When I received them and tried the on they were too tight. My first thought was I hope this is not going to be a hassle to exchange and it wasn’t. It was very easy, Chisos has an automated return process, Print label, list size you would like to exchange for, mine 11.5 D, drop off at UPS, new boots, perfect fit show up in a few days. Awesome customer service. Really nice boots and a real step up from previous pairs of Ostrich I own. I highly recommend!!

Awesome boots

I've only had these a few weeks and I'm still breaking them in. I'm on night shift working outage so I can only wear them on my one day off so it's taking a little time. So far I like everything about them. I'm extremely happy with my purchase

Great performance and looks!

So to start off I got a 10 1/2D and they fit like a firm glove. Which are breaking in nicely. I've had them for about 2 months now or there about. I'm on my feet for 10-11 hour days and there aren't any hot spots or rubbing. These are amazing boots and conversation piece as I get many compliments. This isn't a review for the no. 5 boots I got, but I got those in 10 1/2 D too early on and they fit well at the start. Later on in as they broke in the cellastic toe started to dig into ends of my toes. So I recommend going up a half size on the no.5 from the regular cowboy boot size. They fit great aswell starting off, but suffering from ingrown toenails I had to stop wearing them. The fit and finish of both boots are amazing. An happy to support a great company. I put rubber dress shoe grip sheets on the bottom for traction as I'm on slick floor sometimes.

Dance Your Life Away

I have been waiting quite some time to write this review. I had never even heard of Chisos before and knew when I walked my beautiful wife down the aisle that I wanted to wear a quality gentlemen's boot. Of course I had my heart set on Lucchese boots, but then Rose Anvil for the win. I happened to watch him cut in half the Chisos boots and subsequently saw owner Will cut his own boots in half (I believe it was actually will who cut first). Once I saw the quality that these were constructed with versus Lucchese (still a great boot, not knocking them) I knew I was going to walk my lady down the aisle in these. Plus as a fellow Texan and small business advocate it just made sense.

I ordered them in April but could not wear them one bit until our wedding day, that was our deal together (my wife) so we could write on the outsoles of each other's boots. While at the end of the wedding day my feet had some hot spots but they were overall extremely comfortable right out of the box. I have since tailored my sock department and used only thin smooth dress socks when I wear them, if I do that all day comfort is a given.

The detail that caught my eye the most was the maroon lining (I am an Aggie) but also the fact that the whole boot is lined and not just what you can see in the shaft. I liked it so much that I got the lining of my custom wedding jacket tailored in an identical color silk. I did all I could to make these boots a piece of my own personal history and with the quality they will never give up. I already have a couple other Chisos on my wish list in the future. I will not hesitate to pull the trigger.

Sizing: follow their instructions. I wear a size 12d in running shoes, size 12.5-13 in steel toe work boots and hiking boots and got a 11.5 as instructed. I do not have overly wide or skinny feet, just average I'd say.

If you are questioning based on price, sure they are expensive, but I have been into the shop twice before buying them and everyone I have talked with truly seems passionate about the company. Some people harp that cause they are made in Mexico they should be cheaper, but most boots I have ever bought are from Mexico and I have never had quality issues. That is not to say there are good quality USA boots and or bad made in Mexico boots. Watch the Rose Anvil videos and you'll see why they are good.

I wear them every chance I get, flying to and from work, grocery, wedding, nice dinners, etc...they really dress up and down quite well, especially if you pair it with the matching belt. PS don’t be a dork if you can swing it, make sure your dress pants are tailored for a boot shaft…or you’re wearing a boot cut jean.

Overall I am truly happy with my purchase. Have been recommending them to every person that asks or comments on them.

Extreme Comfort

I fell in love from the first time my foot slid in. I went to the store and the experience was top notch. The boots are feeling more comfortable as I wear them more

Great looking and work in the field as well.

I normally wear more formal boots such as these only in the office or on social occasions but last week I had an opportunity pop up to look at a few acres of rural cattle pasture as I was coming home and went out to see it in these boots. They kept my feet dry walking through the muddy SW Louisiana cow pasture and cleanup up perfectly with just spraying them off with the hose and then wiping them down with some leather cleaner.

An Undisputed Classic

Black full-quill ostrich—paired with our heritage magic black cowhide—is the pinnacle of classic cowboy boots. Tanned to perfection, you will only fully appreciate how stunning the No. 1 is when you unbox it for yourself.

Selectively-bred South African AAA grade ostrich feels plush without sacrificing durability. Natural variances in leather tone and texture give each pair a unique presence.

Expect your Chisos ostrich boots to feel slightly firm upon arrival. This is by design; the leather breaks in perfectly without becoming floppy (as lower grades are known to do).

The only downside is the time you’ll spend thanking people for their compliments.

Your Chisos boots will last decades with appropriate attention. The vamp (leather surrounding the foot) and leather shaft require only minimal care. Condition this leather about once every three months. Store in a cool, dry location and take a day off between heavy uses to allow the insides to properly dry.

To extend the life of new soles, have a cobbler apply a rubber sole saver upon receipt. No matter what, physics is going to win against leather soles and stitching. To slow the process, a cobbler can add some rubber to mitigate.
